The painstaking business of preserving plant seeds

Research Leader David Dierig at Fort Collins-based National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation describes the painstaking process of preserving plant seeds.

The NCGRP, formerly known as the National Seed Storage Lab, is operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on the Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins, Colo. The lab operates as a seed storage bank and also has animal genetic resources. Items are preserved using technology that involves cryogenics.
